Originally from Southern California, John has since lived all over the United States. John left home at the age of 17 to play junior hockey where he earned a scholarship to attend the University of Minnesota. John represented the US on the 1988 Olympic hockey team, and also played on Team USA in three world championships. He enjoyed a 10-year professional career including time with the Boston Bruins and the Buffalo Sabres. Post-retirement form the NHL, John and his family moved to Austin, TX, where he worked in a ministry with collegiate and professional athletes while serving as an associate pastor of a local church there. In 2006, he and his wife, Chris, felt called back to the Southern California area to plant a church in Irvine. John has a huge heart to see churches planted and leadership training that impacts every man, woman and child in the geography God has placed them. John and Chris, along with their five children, live in Costa Mesa, Ca.
